Piranha 3D is a 2010 3D American horror film, and the second remake of the 1978 film of the same name. As well as being comedic in many aspects, the film also contains many elements of splatter. It is directed by Alexandre Aja and sports an ensemble cast featuring Steven R. McQueen, Jerry O’Connell, Richard Dreyfuss, Christopher Lloyd, Elisabeth Shue, Adam Scott, Kelly Brook, Riley Steele, Ving Rhames and Eli Roth. The script was written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger, writers of the 2009 horror remake Sorority Row.
Fisherman Matthew Boyd (Richard Dreyfuss) is fishing in Lake Victoria, Arizona when a small earthquake hits, splitting the lake floor and causing a whirlpool. Boyd falls in and is ripped apart by a school of piranhas that emerge from the chasm and ascend the vortex.
Jake Foster (Steven R. McQueen) is admiring attractive tourists as spring break begins. He reunites with his old crush, Kelly (Jessica Szohr) and meets Derrick Jones (Jerry O’Connell), an eccentric pornographer, as well as Danni (Kelly Brook), one of his actresses. Derrick convinces Jake to show him good spots on the beach for filming a pornographic movie.
That night, Jake’s mother, Sheriff Julie Forester (Elisabeth Shue), searches for the missing Matthew Boyd with Deputy Fallon (Ving Rhames). They find his mutilated body and contemplate closing the beach down, made difficult by 20,000 partying college students. The next morning, a lone cliff diver is attacked and consumed by the marauding fish.
Jake bribes his sister and brother, Laura (Brooklynn Proulx) and Zane (Sage Ryan) cheap ray ban sunglasses , to stay home alone so that he can show Derrick around the beach. After Jake leaves, Zane drafts Laura to go fishing on a small sandbar island. They forget to tie the boat down and are stranded in the middle of the lake. Meanwhile, Jake goes to meet with Derrick and runs into Kelly, who invites herself onto Derrick’s boat, The Barracuda. Jake meets Crystal (Riley Steele), another of Derrick’s actresses, and cameraman Drew (Paul Scheer).
Julie takes a team of seismologist divers — Novak (Adam Scott), Sam (Ricardo Chavira), and Paula (Dina Meyer) — to the fissure. Novak speculates that the rift leads to a buried prehistoric lake. Paula and Sam scuba dive to the bottom and discover a large cavern filled with large piranha egg stocks. Both are killed by the piranhas before they can alert the others to the discovery. Novak and Julie find Paula’s corpse and pull it onto the boat, capturing a lone piranha. They take the fish to Carl Goodman (Christopher Lloyd), a marine biologist who works as a pet store owner. He explains that the piranha that they caught is a prehistoric species, long believed to be extinct, which must have been trapped underground for over two million years where they have grown super-aggressive.
Julie, Novak, Fallon, and Deputy Taylor Roberts (Jason Spisak) try to evacuate the beach, but their warnings are ignored until the piranhas begin to attack the tourists. Novak boards a jet-ski with a shotgun to help while Fallon drags people to shore and Julie and Taylor try to get swimmers into the police boat. Meanwhile, Jake spots Laura and Zane on the island, and forces Derrick to rescue them. Derrick crashes the boat into some rocks, flooding the rooms below deck. Kelly is trapped in the kitchen while Derrick, Crystal, and Drew are thrown from the boat. Crystal is devoured and Drew disappears and is presumed dead. Meanwhile, Danni manages to get a partially eaten Derrick back on board.
Julie and Novak reach Jake and attach a rope to his boat. Julie, Danni, Laura, and Zane start crossing the rope, but the piranhas latch onto Danni’s hair and ultimately devour her. The others make it to safety, but the rope comes loose.

Using Derrick’s corpse as a distraction, Jake ties the line to himself and goes to save Kelly. He ties Kelly to him and lights a flare after releasing the gas in a pair of stored propane tanks. Novak starts the boat and speeds away just as the piranhas surround Kelly and Jake. They are dragged to safety and the propane tanks explode, destroying the boat and killing most of the piranhas.

Bollywood hottie John Abraham can’t remember the last time he had taken a break. And though the actor’s planning to take a few days off later this month, he says it will be a working holiday. Films apart, keeping him busy is his production house that’s gearing to foray into filmmaking. But fresh off the success of his latest release and another hit earlier this year, the actor admits that it’s been a good year — professionally. Personally, it’s been no different, as John seems to have apparently taken his friendship with good friend Priya Runchal to the next level — the two have been seen making public appearances as a couple of late. In a chat with DNA, the actor gets candid about his future plans:
You’ve had two hits this year — your recently released comedy and the action thriller Force. What are you more comfortable with?
Well, action’s always come easy to me, so it’s something I’ve always been comfortable with and can identify with the Action Abraham tag. As far as comedy is concerned, I do feel that I’ve evolved a great deal.
What do you prefer — your action image or sexy tag?
The action image is sexy (laughs).
Mainstream masala entertainers seem to work better for you, as compared to your experimental roles…
Whether those films work or not, they’ve all helped me evolve as an actor. But I know how important a hit is to continue doing the kind of films you want to. But yes five finger shoes , for now I will leave those films to my production house.
Is that why almost all your films in hand now are action thrillers or comedies?
No, that’s actually just co-incidence that Race 2, Shootout at Wadala, Housefull 2 and I, Me Aur Main… all fall under these two genres. But what I am really keen on doing now are action comedies like Rush Hour.
Would you want to remake the Hollywood flick?
Certainly. In fact, my production house is looking at acquiring the rights of several international films, not just from Hollywood, but from across the globe as well.
Two hits and a production house under your belt…
Yes, it’s good to end the year with the aftertaste of success (laughs) and on a happy note. But I’m more excited about the year ahead now.
What about your personal front. Will we see you settling down soon?
Yes, marriage is on my mind for sure, though I can’t say how soon yet. To be honest, I think I’ve been kind of callous about these things in the past, but now I want to maintain the sanctity of my personal life and fiercely guard whoever’s in it. I am not shying away from commitment, and I do want to see myself in that settled and serene personal space. I’m moving towards it, but it’s not something I want others to decide for me.

Despite such familiar devices as ticking-clock calendar postings-”Day 14,” “Day 131″-military checkposts, the president going underground and so on, the feeling here is far more realistic and science-based than artificially concocted. Notwithstanding the urgent struggles faced by the diverse group of characters, including those such as the regular Joe played by Matt Damon, the heart of the movie rests with the medical professionals played by Kate Winslet, Jennifer Ehle and Laurence Fishburne, individuals placed on the anvil of the crisis whose performance under pressure will likely tell the tale.
The first symptoms are ordinary enough–coughing, weakness, a bit of fever. But nothing can prevent it getting worse. For Beth Emhoff (Gwyneth Paltrow), just returned to Minneapolis after a business trip to Hong Kong, it takes only two days for her collapse, start twitching, foam at the mouth and die. How a Movie is Made…Two Writers and a Producer Create a Powerful Drama

It would make a movie producer’s life much simpler if he could hatch the idea for a film himself, shape it into a usable script, direct it, act in it, and edit it. It would certainly save a pile of money.
However, it is pretty much undeniable that few people can “do it all”‘, especially if it all has to be done at the same time. A producer already has many hats to wear. He’s the first person involved. Often he will not be the originator of the idea for the movie, but he will recognize the value of another person’s work and create a vision that will guide him to the finished product.
Ideas can come from anywhere. “The Polar Express” was a children’s Christmas story written by Chris Van Allsburg in 1985. After the rights were acquired by actor Tom Hanks, the classic story was brought to the attention of Robert Zemeckis who immediately “connected” with the material. From a 32-page book it was transformed to a full length animated film that has become a Christmas standard on its own.
When the producer finds an idea that inspires him, he is beginning the long journey from unsubstantiated idea to completed movie. The first step is to acquire the rights to the material. Then a screenwriter has to be found.
With luck the original material is in script format and the writers themselves create a viable screenplay. Canadian Producer Eric Gozlan, CEO of Goldrush Entertainment Inc., showed great foresight in choosing the script by Shawn Ku and Michael Armbruster for “Beautiful Boy”. As it turned out, Shawn Ku also directed the film, so there was a strong consistency in the execution of the vision.
According to the article “What Happens when you’re Making other plans,” found at Gold Rush Entertainment Inc., There was only one major rewrite of “Beautiful Boy” after the actor’s were hired. One element that was changed was the male/female ratio. The writers found the script leaning heavily toward the female actor’s part when they had envisioned a 50/50 split. To rectify that, they beefed up the male actor’s role. They also reworked what they called the “big, pivotal” scene as the characters evolved in their heads.
Eric Gozlan believes in hiring the best and letting them exercise their skills. He obviously had great faith in the talents of both writers.
“Every member of the crew is an integral piece of the puzzle. I have complete confidence in the people with whom I chose to work with and am a strong believer in giving people room to shine,” says Gozlan.
This philosophy certainly worked well for Producer Eric Gozlan and Goldrush Entertainment in the making of “Beautiful Boy”. Gozlan allowed the writers to develop their own material from an idea to the dramatic and intense script that was the platform for the fine acting performances of Maria Bello and Michael Sheen.

Pale Male (hatched 1990) is a well known New York City Red-tailed Hawk who has made his home since the early 1990s near Central Park. Birdwatcher and author Marie Winn gave him his name because of the unusually light coloring of his head. He is one of the first Red-tailed Hawks known to have nested on a building rather than in a tree and is famous for establishing a dynasty of urban-dwelling Red-tailed Hawks. Each spring birders set up telescopes at the Model Boat Pond to observe his nest and chicks at 927 Fifth Avenue.
When he arrived in Central Park in 1991, as a first-year immature hawk, Pale Male tried to nest in a tree, but he was driven off by crows. He later roosted on a building on Fifth Avenue across the street from the park. In early 1992, he found a mate, dubbed First Love. First Love was injured later that year and removed to the Raptor Trust in New Jersey. During her absence, Pale Male took another mate, called Chocolate by birdwatchers. After several unsuccessful spring nesting attempts, Pale Male and a mate, possibly Chocolate, hatched 3 eyasses in 1995. The eyasses survived to young and took up residence in Central Park. Chocolate died later that year from injuries from a collison with a car on the New Jersey turnpike.
First Love returned to Central Park after being banded and released from the Raptor Trust. She and Pale Male reunited and raised several eyases. People in the park waited months to see the eyasses grow and then take their first flights. Pale Male was a good father, bringing food to his offspring about five times each day. In 1997, First Love died after eating a poisoned pigeon in Central Park.
Pale Male’s mate from 1998 to 2001 was a hawk known as Blue. The pair were observed to hatch about 11 eyasses in that period. Blue disappeared about the time of the September 11 terrorist attack in 2001.
In early 2002, Pale Male was first observed with a new mate, Lola. They raised 7 eyasses between 2002 and 2004, building a nest on ornamental stonework above a top-story window on a residential housing cooperative at 927 Fifth Avenue (at East 74th Street) on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Lola disappeared in December 2010 and is presumed dead.
A new mate appeared in early January 2011. This new hawk, with the moniker “Ginger,” because of her dark feathers on her neck and chin, is only in her second year. She is a young , with still-yellow irises, indicating her exact age. This will be ber first nesting attempt, in the winter and spring of 2011 using the existing nest. As in previous years with earlier females, Ginger should lay her first egg sometime in the last two weeks of March, with hatching (it is hoped) about a month later. In December 2004, the hawks’ nest and the anti-pigeon spikes that had long anchored it were removed by the board of the co-op. The removal caused an international outcry and a series of impassioned protests organized by New York City Audubon Society and the Central Park birding community. In a one upsman type way that’s what Amy spends her time doing.
Amy is all about playing games. Somewhere along the line she realized that children are the masters of getting attention so she decided to adopt their ways. She does it better than they do because she’s intelligent in comparison and has a body she can flaunt. However she doesn’t realize that the main reason acting out is successful for kids is the adults figure they don’t know any better and can’t be independent because they are so young. An Amy game is changing a + to a – in one of David’s equations that takes up the whole chalkboard which obviously isn’t going to impress David.
The giggly local degenerate slackers that are about her age are seemingly more of a match for Amy if even one. They are led by Amy’s old boyfriend Charlie Venner (Del Henney). As soon as she sees him again she tricks David into hiring him to help Norman Scutt’s (Ken Hutchinson) crew fix the roof of their barn. Venner is the natural leader because he’s the calmest smartest and most commanding of these hellraisers. However Norman is on his low level and resents a life of being second to Charlie. All of them resent David because he’s not like them has a future and most of all has a hot wife they feel should belong to one of them.
